I made my hobby work for me.
I started this side hustle in 2018 as I explored offering interior design services. The first iteration of the Aston & West website was a basic brochure site for promoting my new business venture. It wasn’t until about a year later — after taking the plunge into affiliate marketing — did I decide to totally overhaul my business model and focus less on interior design and more on selling home decor items from my favorite brands.
Commission-based product links.
I joined several popular influencer + affiliate marketing networks that provided me with a database of thousands of products — right at my fingertips. I simply choose which products I want to feature and a WordPress plugin called Datafeedr does all the heavy lifting for me! The products I’ve curated are seamlessly imported into my WordPress catalog and surfaced onto my website in a design that I have total control over. When a visitor clicks the Shop Now buttons throughout my site and makes a purchase, I earn a commission for every sale.
A host with the most.
Anyone who builds websites knows that a great hosting provider is key to a highly performing site that converts visitors to customers — especially for eCommerce.
Before switching to Kinsta, I hosted Aston & West on two very popular website hosts. The plugins that power my site are fairly robust and require a host that can keep up. The first two providers I tried provided undesirable results and left me with a very slow-loading site, which I knew would hurt potential sales.
Once I migrated to Kinsta (using their very easy migration process) there was a notable boost in speed and performance of the site. I’ve been with Kinsta for several years now and I haven’t looked back. I rarely need to contact customer service, but whenever I do, they are so responsive and awesome to deal with.
